Catherine studied fine art sculpture and now works with metal and printmaking techniques, creating panels for internal and external spaces, and paper based screenprints and Japanese woodcuts.
The starting point for a series of panels could be research into mapping or surveys, or investigating how people experience and alter landscape.
Colour is layered onto the metal by plating and patination, giving a tonal quality reminiscent of prints or paintings. Using screen printing, resists, stencils, incising and painting, a vocabulary of mark making is built up, making evocative images for the viewer to engage with and interpret.
